IOGRAPHY

Monique Helene Paola Smitsmans was born October 21st, 1969, Heerlen, The Netherlands. During her childhood she lived in Voerendaal. She obtained her secondary school degree at Bernardinus College, Heerlen. From 19911995 she studied Analytical Chemistry at the University of Applied Sciences in Utrecht. From 19951997 she studied Chemistry, specialism Physical Chemistry, at Utrecht University to obtain her Masters Degree. In 1998 she started as a research fellow / programmer on a research project at The Netherlands Cancer Institute – Antoni van Leeuwenhoek Hospital, Department of Radiation Oncology, Amsterdam. In 2003 she started to work towards her Ph.D. on the project ‘Image-guided radiotherapy of prostate cancer’, at the same institute, of which this thesis is the end result.

From 20042007 she followed a training in Professional Communication (Transactional Analysis, Neurolinguistic Programming and Systemic Working), and in 2009 a follow-up course on Systemic Working, both at Phoenix Opleidingen, Utrecht.

Monique is married to Daniël Reuling and they have three children, Cas (8), Simon (4) and Bente (2).

Monique Helene Paola Smitsmans is geboren op 21 oktober 1969 te Heerlen en groeide op in Voerendaal. Zij behaalde haar Atheneum diploma aan het Bernardinuscollege te Heerlen.

Van 1991 tot 1995 studeerde zij Analytische Chemie aan de Hogeschool Utrecht. Aansluitend studeerde zij, van 1995 tot 1997, Scheikunde, met als specialisatie Fysische Chemie, aan de Universiteit Utrecht, waar zij haar doctoraal behaalde. In 1998 ging zij werken als onderzoeksmedewerker / programmeur bij Het Nederlands Kanker Instituut – Antoni van Leeuwenhoek Ziekenhuis, afdeling Radiotherapie, te Amsterdam. In 2003 begon zij, bij hetzelfde instituut, aan haar promotieonderzoek ‘Image-guided radiotherapy of prostate cancer’, waarvan dit proefschrift het resultaat is. Daarnaast volgde zij, van 2004 tot 2007, een opleiding in Professionele Communicatie (Transactionele Analyse, Neurolinguïstisch Programmeren en Systemisch Werken) en in 2009 de vervolgopleiding Systemisch Werken, beiden bij Phoenix Opleidingen te Utrecht.

Monique is getrouwd met Daniël Reuling en samen hebben zij drie kinderen, Cas (8), Simon (4) en Bente (2).
