Roshnii Stngaraja was born in Sri-Lanka and moved to Canada in 1986. She received her Honours B.Sc. fromm the University of Waterloo in 1990 in Biochemistry. She was then at the University of Guelph, Ontarioo and the University of Toronto, Ontario, working on noninvasive scxing technique; of bovine embryoss in Guelph, and on a maker gene therapy trial in multiple myeloma patients in Toronto. Roshni thenn moved to the University of British Columbia where she worked on Huntington disease in the laboratoryy of Dr. Michael Hayden. In May of 2000, she began studies towards her PhD in the field of lipidd metabolism with Dr. Michael Hayden. While a graduate student, she won an excellence award fromm the Canadian Lipoprotein Organization, and an outstanding achievement by a doctoral student awardd from the University of British Columbia and the Children and Women's Hospital.
