Curriculum vitae

Paul Logman was born on October 24th, 1967 in Den Burg on the island of Texel, the Netherlands. He grew up in Alkmaar where he attended secondary education (gymnasium) at the Petrus Canisius College. He went on to study Applied Physics at the Delft University of Technology receiving his master’s degree in 1991 on the subject of Spin Imaging. After finishing a teacher training program at the VU University Amsterdam he moved back to Alkmaar and became a teacher of physics, mathematics, and general sciences in various secondary schools in the vicinity of Alkmaar. During his career he became head of the departments of physics and chemistry, was part of the ICT committee at various schools, and was responsible for the realization of a new physics and chemistry department (including laboratories) in two schools. From 2007 onwards, while teaching at the Vellesan college in IJmuiden, he first combined this with a job as a teacher-researcher in the XUV group of Marc Vrakking at AMOLF (part of the FOM institute) in Amsterdam. Having had a taste of research as a teacher-researcher, in 2009 he started work on this Ph.D. research project at the AMSTEL Institute of Ton Ellermeijer at the University of Amsterdam, funded by the DUDOC research program (science teachers performing educational research to support the curriculum innovation for the exact sciences in the Netherlands).
