Introduction

Child Death Review has been introduced in the United States of America, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and the United Kingdom. All child deaths are examined in a systematic way through a multidisciplinary approach with the objective to improve cause of death statistics, to identify risk factors for generating preventive interventions, and to enhance support of families and professionals.

Objective

The objective of this symposium is to share knowledge on methods for child death review. For this purpose, results will be presented of the different approaches to reviewing child deaths in the United Kingdom, Germany and the Netherlands. In addition, an outline is proposed of ways in which the Child Death Review methodology may be implemented in the Eastern part of the Netherlands.

Audience

Paediatricians, general practitioners, youth health care and welfare professionals, pathologists, forensic physicians, social workers and others with an interest in child death reviews, are cordially invited to this symposium.

Participation is free of charge. Accreditation is requested from the professional organizations.
