8. Conclusie en aanbevelingen over mogelijkheden om escalatie van het conflict over de verdeling

8.4 Mogelijke vervolgonderzoeken

Een mogelijk vervolgonderzoek zou zijn om over één à twee jaar onderzoek te doen naar de uitvoering van het CFA. Wat is er daadwerkelijk bereikt? Is het CFA alsnog ondertekend door Egypte en Sudan. Hebben de bovenstroomse landen het CFA weten te ratificeren? Wat is de invloed van het CFA geweest op het waterconflict en is het wellicht zelfs opgelost.

Een andere invalshoek voor vervolgonderzoek in de nabije toekomst (één à twee jaar) kan zijn om te onderzoeken welke invloed de nieuwe regering van Egypte zal hebben op het waterconflict. Is er na de Arabische lente daadwerkelijk een nieuw pad ingeslagen van vernieuwing, democratie en samenwerking. Hoe werkt dit door in het waterconflict van de Nijl en is er nog een waterconflict, of heeft Egypte het CFA ondertekend en zelfs geratificeerd?

Nawoord

Deze bachelor scriptie kon tot stand komen dankzij de hulp van veel personen. Ik wil op deze plaats dan ook iedereen bedanken die op enigerlei wijze bij heeft gedragen aan de totstandkoming van deze visie.

In het bijzonder wil ik Henk Donkers bedanken voor de begeleiding tijdens het schrijven van de scriptie. Dankzij zijn adviezen, suggesties en de grote hoeveelheid boeken, tijdschriften en krantenartikelen die hij me aanraadde kon ik verder met de scriptie.

Daarnaast wil ik Judith Nijenhuis, Susan Verbeij en Lesley ter Maat bedanken voor de studiegroep die we vanaf het moment gevormd hebben. De wekelijkse studiedag en de stimulering en ondersteuning op momenten dat dit nodig was heb ik zeer gewaardeerd.

Tevens wil ik Jan Willem Kosten en Anton van Wijk bedanken voor de mogelijkheid om hun stage foto’s van de Nijl te gebruiken zodat verschillende onderdelen van de scriptie nu geïllustreerd zijn en een beter beeld van de Nijl geven.
