Over het algemeen kan geconcludeerd worden dat een slechter werknemerswelzijn begint bij een verstoorde werk-privébalans. Op het moment dat er meer gebruik wordt gemaakt van WCTG buiten werktijd, veroorzaakt dit een hogere werkdruk. Gezien werkdruk een voorspeller is voor emotionele uitputting ofwel burn-outklachten, gaat het daar eigenlijk al mis. Het feit dat volgens Hooftman et al., (2018) op dit moment 43% van de instroom in de Ziektewet het gevolg is van psychische aandoeningen waar werkstress een rol in speelt, is zorgelijk. Helemaal
nu we kunnen concluderen dat WCTG van invloed is op werkdruk en burn-outverschijnselen. Op het moment dat er sprake is van een verstoorde balans tussen werk en privé, dit grote gevolgen heeft voor het welzijn van de werknemer. En dan heeft de sociale norm hier ook nog een versterkende rol in. Ten slotte is, tegen de verwachting in, leeftijd negatief van invloed op emotionele uitputting. Maatschappelijk gezien zou het daarom goed zijn de focus te verleggen en ook de andere werkende generaties goed onder de loep te nemen, want niet alleen
