6.6. Concluderend
Verschillende condities, mechanismen en processen blijken een belangrijke rol te spelen in het bestaan en voortbestaan van onvrije arbeid onder tapijtknopers in Nepal. Of er sprake is van onvrije arbeid onder respondenten van dit onderzoek valt niet eenduidig te concluderen en zoals onderzocht, is deze gesloten vraag ook minder relevant en interessant. Om het
bestaan en voortbestaan van onvrije arbeid te begrijpen is het juist van belang onderzoek te doen naar elementen van onvrijheden. Door onderscheid te maken in verschillende condities, mechanismen en processen worden zowel op micro-, meso-, als macroniveau elementen van onvrijheid inzichtelijk. Respondenten uit Bouddha en Jorpati werken zover bekend niet in gedwongen arbeid, maar op de grens van vrije arbeid en onvrije arbeid. Niet omdat ze hiertoe worden gedwongen, maar omdat ze ervoor kiezen. Er zijn verschillende risico’s aangegeven om (verder) in onvrije arbeid te raken, want helaas is er inderdaad sprake van elementen van onvrijheid voor tapijtknopers in Bouddha en Jorpati, waarbij voornamelijk de
afhankelijkheidsrelatie een beperking van vrijheden vormt.

Bijlage 2 Verklaring bronnen data-‐analyse
De verzamelde data tijdens het veldwerk is opgebouwd uit drie bronnen: mijn observaties, half-gestructureerde gesprekken die ik heb gevoerd met mensen die betrokken zijn bij de tapijtindustrie (deskundigen van NGO’s en masters) en enquêtes afgenomen door twee onderzoeksassistenten en mijzelf (53 formulieren, waarvan 46 bruikbaar en meegenomen in de data-analyse). In de ‘dagelijkse aantekeningen’ is opgenomen wat ik dagelijks gedaan heb en tot welke aanknopingspunten dat toen leidde. Als er uitgebreidere observaties / interviews waren, zijn deze apart uitgewerkt. Maar ook deze dagelijkse aantekeningen geven informatie uit het veld. Hieronder is precies opgenomen waar mijn map met verzamelde data uit bestaat.

Elke dag van mijn veldwerk genoteerd wat ik heb gedaan en welke aanknopingspunten dit opleverde.
