5.6 BEPERKINGS VAN DIE NAVORSING

Die belangrikste beperking van die studie is die feit dat die veldwerk vir die studie slegs in twee skole in die Drakensteingebied in die Boland, Wes-Kaap gedoen is en dat slegs ’n paar leerders by die onderhoude betrek is. Deur meer skole te betrek sal ’n beter persepsie van negatiewe groepdruk gevorm kan word. Verder het die navorsing gefokus op die stem van graad nege- leerders, terwyl ouers se ervaring van negatiewe groepdruk op hulle graad nege-kind ’n waardevolle bydrae sou kon lewer. Die navorser sou ook van

waarneming en vraelyste as data-insamelingsbronne gebruik kon maak om ’n beter verstaan van die verskynsel te bekom.

5.7 SLOTOPMERKING

In hierdie studie is daar gefokus op graad nege-leerders se beskrywing van negatiewe portuurgroepdruk. Tans bestaan daar nog min navorsing waar adolessente die geleentheid gekry het om hulle stem rakende negatiewe groepdruk te laat hoor. Hierdie studie het daarom gepoog om aan graad nege-leerders ’n stem te gee sodat hulle hulle subjektiewe beskrywings van negatiewe portuurgroepdruk in ’n veilige, nie-veroordelende omgewing kon deel. Uit hierdie beskrywings was dit duidelik dat negatiewe groepdruk ’n gegewe in die lewe van graad nege-leerders is, dat negatiewe groepdruk in verskillende kontekste manifesteer en dat verskillende faktore daarop inwerk. Hierdie faktore sluit onder meer hulle ontwikkelingstake en verhoudinge in, maar hulle behoefte aan aanvaarding en erkenning deur die portuurgroep blyk die hoofrede tot die toegewing aan negatiewe druk en norme te wees.
