Hazards Impacts Assessment for Hispaniola October 29 – November 4, 2009

ƒ Some improvement expected in the southern departments of Haiti.

During the last observation period, light to moderate rainfall accumulations were received across the central and coastal

regions of Hispaniola. Precipitation totals ranging between 10-25mm were observed in the central highlands, with slightly

higher amounts in the southern coastal department of Grand’ Anse. In the last month, precipitation deficits remain marginal,

however the distribution of rainfall has resulted in short-term dryness conditions for local areas in the northwestern

department, as well as, in many areas in southeastern Haiti. Precipitation forecasts suggest some improvements, with

enhanced rainfall over southern parts of Hispaniola in the next seven days.
