1. Niet-invasieve coronairangiografie met multislice computer tomografie heeft een toegevoegde diagnostische waarde ten opzichte van de coronaire calciumscore in asymptomatische patiënten met diabetes mellitus type 2 (dit proefschrift).
2. Coronaire calciumscore, niet-invasieve coronairangiografie en myocard per fu sie scintigrafie zijn 3 verschillende technieken om 3 verschillende manifestaties van coronairlijden te onderzoeken (dit proefschrift).
3. 123I‑mIBG scintigrafie is sensitiever dan het meten van hartritme variabiliteit voor de detectie van cardiovasculaire autonome neuropathie in asymptomatische patiënten met diabetes mellitus type 2 (dit proefschrift).
4. Globale longitudinale strain van de linker ventrikel is gerelateerd aan de coronaire calciumscore in asymptomatische patiënten met diabetes mellitus type 2 (dit proefschrift).
5. De coronaire calciumscore heeft een betere voorspellende waarde voor stille myocardischemie dan traditionele risicofactoren (D.V. Anand et al. Eur Heart J 2006;27;713-21).
6. Routinematig screenen op stille myocardischemie met behulp van myocard perfusie- scintigrafie in patiënten met diabetes mellitus type 2, geeft geen significante reductie van mortaliteit na 5 jaar follow-up (L.H. Young et al. JAMA 2009;301:1547-55).
7. Angiotensine-2 antagonisten remmen significant de groei van de diameter van de aorta in patiënten met het syndroom van Marfan (B.S. Brooke et al. NEJM 2008;358:2787-95).
