1. Bij een lage belasting lijdt het werkgeheugen niet onder acute stress maar bij een hoge belasting wel (hoofdstuk 3).

2. Na acute stress is men sneller afgeleid door irrelevante emotionele informatie (hoofdstuk 6).

3. Cortisolverhoging ≠ “stress” (hoofdstuk 2, 3, 4, 5, 6)

4. Hydrocortison toediening leidt tot betere inhibitie van emotionele distractie, wat een verklaring kan zijn voor de preventieve effecten van hydrocortison toediening na traumatische ervaringen (hoofdstuk 4).
