Hazards Assessment Text Explanation:

Many regions of Central America received a fair to moderate distribution of rainfall during the last observation period. Seven-day rainfall totals ranging between 25- 75mm were observed in parts of Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador and northern Nicaragua, with locally heavier totals (75- 100mm) observed along the gulf regions of Panama and Costa Rica in the southern Caribbean. In the last 30 days, precipitation has remained near average throughout the Central America domain, with some local areas experiencing marginal precipitation deficits. In some local parts of Guatemala, Primera rains have been slightly delayed and irregular. However, local reports indicate that early season cropping activities, including land preparation and some sowing, are underway in some parts of the coastal departments of Guatemala.

Precipitation forecasts suggest a favorable outlook in the next seven days. Moderate to heavy rainfall totals in excess of 50-75mm are expected throughout portions of the southern Caribbean, as well as across the southern and central departments of Guatemala, western Honduras and El Salvador.
