Curriculum Vitae
Bart Noort was born on 22 april 1988 in Rijnsburg, the Netherlands, a bit less than two years after his brother Gert Jan. Having lived for four years in Nyanje, Zambia, where his parents worked in Nyanje RCZ Mission Hospital, he grew up in Nijverdal. There he went to the Prinses Beatrix primary school, followed by Reggesteyn College, where he received his VWO diploma in 2006.
In Groningen Bart studied Life, Science and Technology, with Biomedical Science as major and a minor on Public Administration. During his two-year master he followed the Science, Business and Policy track. As part of his master he had much attention for infectious diseases and conducted a 6-month research project on the co-infection of
Streptococcus pneumoniae after an influenza infection. In 2011 he did an internship at
the National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM), on the surveillance and decision-making on vector-borne diseases, which resulted in a scientific and policy advisory report. After his master Bart conducted an eight-month research project on paediatric respiratory infections at the Academic Hospital Suriname, Paramaribo. Before starting his PhD in 2014 he worked at Abbott Biologicals in Olst as a Quality Assurance Officer.
During his PhD Bart visited England and Sweden for his comparative case study. He was furthermore extensively involved in setting-up and evaluating the COPD coaching project together with a health insurer, four hospitals and several other involved parties and professionals. Bart visited the IPSERA, EurOMA, EHMA, POMS and Gastein Forum conferences where he presented his work. In 2019 he received the Karolinska Best PhD Thesis Award at the EHMA conference in Helsinki, based on an early draft of his thesis.
Bart supervised several master students Supply Chain or Technology and Operations Management during their thesis projects, mainly in the healthcare area. Furthermore he was involved in master courses on purchasing and healthcare operations. While finishing his PhD, in 2020 he worked at the Netherlands Federation of University Medical Centers (NFU) as Secretary a.i. for the Consortium Quality of Care.
