1) Heavy rainfall over the past month has left the northern tier of Honduras and northeastern sections of Nicaragua saturated and prone to flooding if the region experiences any further rainfall during the period.

Taking Wilma, Beta, and this past week’s rainfall into consideration, reports of over 1000 mm worth of rain has fallen within this region. Such saturated conditions have made runoff a problem and even small amounts of rain could affect these areas. As of right now, heavy rain is not expected, however this region should still be

monitored with periodic shower activity evident throughout the upcoming period.

2) Costa Rica and Panama are the primary focus with heavy amounts of rain expected in the region throughout the duration of the period. Rainfall amounts of 200 to 400 mm, with locally higher amounts are expected. These rains may result in flooding, landslides and possibly some localized crop damage to un-harvested crops such as rice and corn.
