CuRRICulum VITaE

Rutger Osterthun was born in IJsselstein, the Netherlands, on 11th February 1980. He finished his secondary school (VWO) at the Revius Lyceum in Doorn in 1998. He obtained his medical degree at the Utrecht University in 2007.

During his Medicine study he did his research internship within the field of spinal cord injury at the Centre of Excellence in the Hoogstraat Rehabilitation Centre in Utrecht. After his Medicine study he initially continued doing research. Later he also started working as a physician at the Rehabilitation Centre Breda (Revant) and the Hoogstraat Rehabilitation Centre.

In 2010 he started his specialization residency in Rehabilitation Medicine at the Hoogstraat Rehabilitation Centre. He finished his specialization in 2014. After that he worked as a medical specialist in Rehabilitation Medicine and as a researcher at the Tolbrug Rehabilitation Centre (Jeroen Bosch Hospital) in ‘s Hertogenbosch and Uden. From 2014 he has been appointed at the University Medical Centre Groningen and Groningen University to continue his PhD trajectory.

From 2017 until now he has continued his work as a medical specialist in Rehabilitation Medicine at the Spinal Cord Injury/Surgery department of the Rijndam Rehabilitation Centre in Rotterdam as well as his work as a researcher at the Rijndam Rehabilitation Centre and the Erasmus Medical Centre in Rotterdam.
