The research presented in this thesis was carried out at the Dutch Montagu’s Harrier Foundation (Grauwe Kiekendief Kenniscentrum Akkervogels), the Conservation Ecology Group, Groningen Institute for Evolutionary Life Sciences (GELIFES), University of Groningen, The Netherlands, and the Centre d'Etudes Biologiques de Chizé, UMR 7372, CNRS & Université de La Rochelle, France.
This PhD was funded by the Ubbo Emmius Fund and the Dutch Montagu’s Harrier Foundation.
