Dear Mr. Härt e,
During our consult at ion m eet ing regarding Schiphol w e briefly t ouched t he subj ect of t he different t ypes of handling available at Schiphol, nam ely i) disconnect ed on t he plat form ( incl. t ransport by bus t o t he pier) , ii) disconnect ed at t he pier ( h- pier) and iii) connect ed ( wit h airbridge) at t he pier.
For t he first t wo possibilit ies ( disconnect ed) t he price is 20% lower t hen t he connect ed handling.
I n 2006 we discussed wit h t he NMa t he possibilit y of filling a form al com plaint against Schiphol ( furt her as det ailed in t he at t ached m em o’s) , because all our com pet it ors at Schiphol w here provided w it h disconnect ed handling and t herew it h a cost advant age. At t he t im e t he NMa decided not t o furt her invest igat e t he m at t er.
Given t he current invest igat ion by t he NMA on t he econom ic dom inance of Schiphol, t his issue m ight becom e relevant again. We as Transavia in 2006 request ed t he possibilit y of disconnect ed handling, but t his was denied by Schiphol. This denial could be seen as an indicat ion of econom ic dom inance.
We believe t hat t here is a possible risk of dist ort ion of t he level playing field bet ween com pet it ors due t o t he m anner Schiphol allocat es it handling capacit y. The param ount focus in our com pet it ion is cost efficiency, Schiphol should not dist urb t his.
Looking forw ard t o hearing from you.
Kind regards, t ransavia.com
