ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Renske Verweij was born on August 8, 1989 in Groningen, the Netherlands. After finishing her Bachelor’s degree in Social Work she decided to study Sociology. She started the pre-master in Sociology followed by the Research Master in Sociology at the University of Groningen and graduated in 2014 (cum laude). During the Research Master she wrote together with Melinda Mills and Harold Snieder a research proposal for her PhD project, which got funded by the Faculty of Bahavioral and Social Sciences at the University of Groningen. In September 2014 she started this PhD project at the department of Sociology/ ICS graduate school in Groningen. As part of her PhD project she spent three months at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where she worked together with Guang Guo. As of January 2019, she works as a postdoctoral researcher at the Department of Public Administration and Sociology at the Erasmus University Rotterdam.
