1. Smartphone-based digital phenotyping is a promising method for the quantification of several aspects of human behaviour, in
particular behaviour related to daily social functioning. (this thesis) 2. In contrast to many traditional methods such as questionnaires, smartphones can reliably be utilised for the long-term and passive monitoring of behaviour in a natural setting and in a more objective manner. (this thesis)
3. In the context of psychiatric patients, meaningful and clinically relevant behavioural phenotypes can be derived by using
multimodal smartphone data. (this thesis)
4. Unbiased phenotypes of behaviour that are not driven by a-priori expectations can be derived from smartphone data by machine learning techniques. (this thesis)
5. Research on passive monitoring through smartphones should prioritize the development of a standardized and validated
methodology to analyse and interpret data obtained through digital phenotyping. (this thesis)
6. Rather than being passionate about finding answers to
