SAMENVATTING.

In dit rapport staat het vrije trillingsgedrag van viskeus- gedempte, lineair

dynamische systemen met

n

graden van vrijheid centraal. Nagegaan wordt op

welke wijze de (in het algemeen complexe) eigenwaarden en -vectoren beinvloed

worden door de vorm en het niveau wan de in het systeem aanwezige demping.

Voor proportioneel gedempte systemen blijkt de modulus van de complexe

eigenwaarden niet befvloed te worden doos de demping.

Enkel de fasehoek

verandert

door

het aanwezig zijn van deze demping. In dat geval bewegen alle

eigenwaarden over een cirkel in het complexe vlak.

Voor een meer algemene vorm van de dempingsmatrix geldt dit niet meer. Wel

zal blijken dat ten allen tijde het product van alle eigenwaarden reëel

konstant

is.
