Brief Biography (max. 150 words, to be published in the 6th EIS Conference Guide)
Frank Pierie MSc. B Eng, Age 31
I am an engineer, educated in the field of sustainability, energy production technology and energy transportation, specialized in Material and Energy Flow Analysis and Life Cycle Analysis. With a practical background learned by attending Preparatory Vocational Secondary Education (LTS) and Senior Secondary Vocational Education (MTS). With a theoretical background learned by following a Bachelor of Engineering (B Eng.) and a Master of Science (MSc.) in Energy and Environmental Sciences. Currently, I am a PhD candidate at the Hanze University of Applied Sciences in Groningen, on the subject of measuring the sustainability of renewable energy sources and systems and renewable system integration. I previously worked at Philips as a process engineer focused on sustainability. Furthermore, I am also active in lecturing and several initiatives to increase awareness on the subject of renewability and sustainability in my immediate surrounding.
Abstract of Intervention or Expertise (max 300 words, moderator briefing and preparation)
Frank is doing its PhD. research within the Flexigas project, which focusses on the development of decentralized biogas gas grids. Within this project Frank can follow his pursuit on researching the sustainability of biogas production from farm scale digesters. After many years of research, he can speak fluently in English. His professional interests are: Renewable energy, Sustainability, Material and Energy Flow Analysis, Life Cycle Analysis, Modelling, and lecturing on Global Change. Frank has been present in different international summit, conferences and workshop related to Biomass, Biogas and Energy, such as:
1) European Biogas Convention and Exhibition 2013, Copenhagen
2) European Gas Technology Conference 2013 (part of GERG), Paris
3) European Biogas Convention and Exhibition, 2014, Hamburg 4) European Biogas Association 2014, Alkmaar
5) Biogas Science 2015, Vienna
