CURRICULUM VITAE

Roelof Waaijman was born on 06 November 1974 in Hengelo, the Netherlands. After graduating for the HAVO at Twickel College in Hengelo in 1992, Roelof studied Che-mical Engineering, Process Technology at the HTS in Enschede. In 1997 he obtained his bachelor degree. In 1998 he started his study Human Movement Sciences at the VU University in Amsterdam, specializing in Systems Physiology and after writing his master’s thesis at Otago University in Dunedin, New Zealand he got his Masters degree in 2004.

During and after graduation Roelof worked at the EMGO Institute of the VU Medical Centre in Amsterdam on several research projects. From 2004 to 2007 Roelof wor-ked as data manager for the Dutch Patient Safety Research Program within the same organisation.

In 2007 Roelof started his PhD project ‘Improving footwear to prevent ulcer recurren-ce in diabetes‘ at the department of Rehabilitation of the Academic Medical Centre in Amsterdam under the supervision of prof. dr. Frans Nollet, dr. Sicco Bus and dr. Mirjam de Haart. The project resulted in the current doctoral thesis.

Since 2012 Roelof is working at the Human Performance Laboratory of the depart-ment of Rehabilitation of the Academic Medical Centre in Amsterdam, where he is involved in conducting gait analyses and technical management of the lab.
