Heavy rainfall is expected over Belize extended through the northern part of Guatemala and the Gulf of Belize

During the past week, Moderate to heavy rainfall has been registered over the areas facing the eastern Pacific Ocean, the southern part of Guatemala, El Salvador, Costa Rica, and Panama. In contrast, showers to light rainfall has been recorded over the areas facing Atlantic Ocean, Belize, the northern and eastern part of Honduras and the central and eastern part of Nicaragua. The two months performance has showed 50-80 percent of normal rainfall over Belize, around the Gulf of Belize including a small portion of the northwestern part of Honduras which also correlate the mediocre conditions of vegetation observed over the same areas. Despite the absence of flood report over the Penten Department this past two weeks, heavy rainfall could trigger flash flood easily.

During the next week, above-average rain is forecast across Central America. Moderate to heavy rainfall is expected over the coastal countries facing the Pacific Ocean including the southern part of Honduras. A tropical depression is located over the coastal area of Belize while moving slowly northwestward which could bring heavy rainfall over Belize, the northern and central part of Guatemala, the northern part of Honduras, Panama and Costa Rica which could lead to ground water saturation and trigger a flood over the areas.
