CURRICULUM VITAE
Luc Ben Stefan Gelinck, geboren in Nijmegen op 30 april 1970, kreeg zijn eerste vac- cinatie op 24 juli 1970 (D.K.T.P. I). In 1988 behaalde hij zijn atheneum-B diploma aan het Mill Hill College in Goirle, waarna hij geneeskunde ging studeren in Leiden.
Gedreven door een bijzondere interesse in de immunologie deed hij zijn eerste onder- zoek bij de afdeling reumatologie (Academisch Ziekenhuis Leiden) onder begeleiding van dr. J.M.W. Hazes, voor het behalen van de docteraal bul in 1993.
Zijn co-schap interne geneeskunde liep hij in 1994 op de ‘HIV/AIDS-afdeling’ van het Leyenburg Ziekenhuis, Den Haag, onder supervisie van dr. R.H. Kauffmann. Geïntrig- eerd geraakt door de vele gezichten van HIV/AIDS, toen nog een onbehandelbare infectie, nam hij in 1995 contact op met dr. F.P. Kroon om het laatste (facultatieve) deel van zijn co-schappen aan HIV/AIDS-zorg te wijden. Dit co-schap werd, na het behalen van het artsexamen in 1996, het jaar van vele kritische veranderingen rondom HIV-zorg, omgezet in een aanstelling als arts-onderzoeker bij de afdeling infectieziekten van het Academisch Ziekenhuis Leiden.
Na dit jaar keerde hij terug in het Leyenburg Ziekenhuis om zijn opleiding tot internist te starten (opleider dr. J.C.M. van der Vijver), een opleiding die 6 jaar later in Leiden werd afgerond (opleider prof. dr. A.E. Meinders). Weer een jaar later registreerde hij zich als internist-infectioloog (opleider prof. dr. J.T. van Dissel). Tot 2007 bleef hij aan de afdeling infectieziekten van het Leids Universitair Medisch Centrum verbonden om zich bezig te houden met de academische trias (onderzoek, klinische werkzaamheden en onderwijs).
De onderzoeken beschreven in dit proefschrift zijn in die tijd zijn opgestart en uitgevoerd.
Vanaf 2007 is hij werkzaam bij de afdeling Medische Microbiologie en infectieziekten van het ErasmusMC te Rotterdam. Zijn laatste vaccinatie (de 2e mexicaanse griepprik) kreeg hij op 9 december 2009, de immuunrespons is onbekend.
