STELLINGEN BEHORENDE BIJ HET PROEFSCHRIFT
HAND ECZEMA
IMPACT, TREATMENT AND OUTCOME MEASURES
1. Cost-of-illness studies in hand eczema need to be designed more homogeneously. (this thesis) 2. Hand eczema related presenteeism (working while having a disease) deserves attention in patients
with moderate to severe hand eczema, because it is common and often results from intrinsic reasons. (this thesis)
3. Azathioprine treatment may be effective in patients with hand eczema, but side effects result in discontinuation of therapy in a considerable number of patients. (this thesis)
4. The effectiveness of dupilumab on hand eczema should be further explored. (this thesis)
5. Guidelines describing how to perform studies on measurement properties should be used, resulting in well-validated measurement instruments to aid the performance of clinical trials. (this thesis) 6. The Dutch Quality Of Life in Hand Eczema Questionnaire (QOLHEQ) is a valid, interpretable tool, that
should be used to measure health-related quality of life impairment in Dutch hand eczema patients. (this thesis)
7. The multi-language versions of the QOLHEQ should be used in international clinical trials as patient reported outcome to compare health-related quality of life impairment between hand eczema patients. (this thesis)
8. The Hand Eczema Severity Index is sensitive to change and scores obtained with this measurement instrument can now be interpreted. (this thesis)
9. Studies into the interpretability of measurement instruments are vital to draw meaningful conclusions from their use in daily practice and in clinical trials. (this thesis)
10. Questioning is progress, but doubt is stagnation. (The Talos Principle, Croteam 2014)
11. We don't stop playing because we grow old; we grow old because we stop playing. (Karl Groos, 1896)
