1. Het is niet mogelijk om de kwaliteit van het voedingspatroon in één getal uit te drukken (dit proefschrift).

2. Voedingsinterventies gericht op jongvolwassenen en hun kinderen hebben meer potentie dan interventies gericht op ouderen met cardiometabole ziekten of een hoog risico daarop (dit proefschrift). 3. Om de gezondheidseff ecten van voedingsproducten te evalueren, is

ook het tijdstip van consumptie relevant (dit proefschrift). 4. Om sociaal-economische gezondheidsverschillen te verkleinen

moeten interventies ook determinanten buiten het domein van leefstijl en geneeskunde erkennen en aanpakken (dit proefschrift).

5. Als cardiometabole gezondheid al sterk verslechterd is, gebruik voeding dan om de kwaliteit van leven te verbeteren, in plaats van de kwantiteit (dit proefschrift).

6. Een gebrek aan kennis over gezonde voeding is een probleem voor de publieke gezondheid, maar beperkt wel het risico op reverse causation in voedings-epidemiologisch onderzoek.
