1976 - 1985

February Gerrit Dekker continued his AIR period. On the 6th and 7th of February

the studio was open to the public from 20:00 till 22:00 and the 8th of

February from 15:00 till 17:00. Pieter Holstein produced an installation, which was shown from the 21st of February until the 27th of March.

March

April Corps de Garde organised an exhibition called Editions where multiples were shown by d’Armagnac, Besson, Gerrit Dekker, Barbara en Michael Leisgen, Lesak, and Hans de Vries, which were also on offer. The exhibition was shown from the 6th of April until the 7th of May.

May Alison Knowles had an AIR period where she made pictures printed on linen that were never showed in Holland until the sale-exhibition ‘13 artists’ in 1977. David Salle showed an exhibition in Corps de Garde. The exhibition was on view from the 11th of May until the 12th of June. For the

occasion a white press card was made with in the middle a personal add, which read: Empty Young Man, 32, slightly mathematical, intellectual, Christian, seeks empty young woman to share emptiness. VV Box 9206,80 Univ PI, NYC 100003. In the same month De Appel showed 3 films and 5 video pieces by David Salle, they were on view in De Appel from the 16th

until the 19th of June and on the 25th and 26th of June the installation was

shown at the Institute for Art History in Groningen. The exhibition of David Salle in Corps de Garde was prolonged until the 3rd of July.

June

July Gerrit Dekker had an AIR period, Barbara Bloom had an AIR period, Tony Morgan had an AIR period and Ben d’Armagnac also had an AIR period.

August Gerrit Dekker, Barbara Bloom, Tony Morgan, Ben d’Armagnac, Misha Mengelberg, Wisse Scheper and Tony Morgan all did a performance for the Corps de Garde program ‘5 performances’ that was presented at the Groninger summer event called Zomermanifestatie

(Summermanifestation).

September Hans de Vries had an AIR period.

October From the second of October onwards Silvia Steiger showed her installation called Muschel Kiefernzapfen Mutter at Corps de Garde. Tony Morgan showed his work Night Club from the 5th until the 18th of

October at the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam. On the 9th and 10th he

gave performances there. The project was collaboration between Corps de Garde and the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam.

November Barbara Bloom (AIR), Ben d’Armagnac (AIR) and Silvia Steiger all produced an installation.

December Han Jansen had an AIR period where he worked on his ‘Stroombeelden’ works (works in which he lets the paint flow and drip and pour over the canvases).

Program overview 1977

--- January Han Jansen had an AIR period for two months. He made an installation. February Ton Mars had an AIR period; Tony Morgan had an AIR period,

production.

March Henk Donker had an AIR period for two months. He made an installation. April David Salle’s installation Bearding the Lion in His Den was on view at

Corps de Garde. The installation was first shown at De Appel from the 15th until the 31st of March.

May Charlemagne Palestine had an AIR period. He performed at several concerts. Silvia Steiger had an AIR period, production.

June Jack Goldstein had an AIR period. From the 12th of June until July the

second the exhibition 13 Artists was on view at Corps de Garde. This exhibition was an initiative by 13 artists, who were willing to offer their work for sale to fundraise money to ensure the future existence of Corps de Garde.

July Colen Fitzgibbon & Robin Winters had an AIR period, production and installation.

August Corps de Garde participated in the zomermanifestatie with the program called 16 Days with works by: Colen Fitzgibbon & Robin Winters (AIR), Vito Acconci, Barbara Bloom (AIR), Gerrit Dekker (AIR), Jack Goldstein, Pieter Holstein, Charlemagne Palestine, Yvonne Rainer, and David Salle (See below for a detailed description of the program 16 Days and the works that were created for this event).

September On Thursday the 29th of September a special night screening was

organized at the movie theatre Studio in Groningen, where a selection of films from the program 16 Days was shown. The screening started at mid-night and consisted of films by Barbara Bloom, Colen Fitzgibbon, Jack Goldstein, Chris Langdon, David Salle and Robin Winters. The same night a collection of videotapes, which were made during 16 Days, was shown at the institute for Art History. It included recordings of the concerts by Michel Waisvisz and Charlemagne Palestine and

documentation material of the works by Nan Hoover and Fitzgibbon & Winters.

October Barbara Bloom had an AIR period. She organised a special night showing in the movie theatre Studio at midnight. She showed Le Cercle Rouge by Jean-Pierre Melville (1970). Fitzgibbon & Winters had an AIR period for two months; they produced a portable installation called X&Y Offer. The X and Y Offer was the result of almost half a year of working together. The artists were bound to their collaboration by a contract they had signed by De Appel. The agreed upon collaboration was executed at Corps de Garde during their stay in Groningen. The collaboration had the goal of creating a third person, which would be the representation of the both of them.

November The installation X & Y Offer was on view from the 14th until the 20th of November, with 2 showings daily at 2.30 and 7.30 pm. Robin Winters also did four performances from the 16th until the 19th of November. On the

16th he performed If you don’t blow your own horn, on the 17thStumbling Block, on the 18thEar to the rail and on the 19th he performed A pleasure to serve you. From the 14th until the 20th of November Colen Fitzgibbon

did a phone project called Answer, which started everyday at 2.30 pm. December Han Jansen had an AIR period, where he worked on his so called

‘Stroombeelden’ and produced several of them.

January Drewes de Wit (AIR) worked on a series of large drawings. With a special brush of 1.80 m. he put a stroke of ink on a 12 m. long paper, which was mounted on the wall. As a consequence, the imprint of the wall would appear on the paper. The seams that resulted from this manner of working were cut from the paper and were presented as a new work. During this month visitors were welcome at Corps de Garde on Fridays and Saturdays from 2-6 pm.

February Wisse Scheper (AIR) worked on a piece for the piano called

Intermission/Pause. After its completion he would give several concerts, including one at the zomermanifestatie.

March Reindeerwerk did a performance and Han Jansen made an installation / exhibition of his Stroombeelden paintings, which he worked on during his AIR period in December 1977.

April People could visit Han Jansen’s installation on Saturday the 15th and

Sunday the 16th from 2-6 pm, on Thursday the 20th and Friday the 21st

from 8-11 pm, on Saturday the 22nd and Sunday the 23rd from 2-6 pm and

finally on Tuesday the 25th the studio was open from 2 -11 pm. In this

same period Raul Marroquin showed a cross section of the video pieces that he had made so far. Preparations were also made for a video

production that was going to be recorded in the region. Unfortunately the production couldn’t continue due to lack of available funds.

May David Salle (AIR) worked on producing an installation of photographs and prepared work for the program of the zomermanifestatie called

August.

June David Salle’s (AIR) installation was on view at Corps de Garde from the 26th of June until the first of July. On the 21st of June David Salle gave a

guest lecture at the Institute of Art History at the University of Groningen.

Pieter Holstein was in Corps de Garde for production and gave a

performance during one day from 11 am until 12 pm on Saturday the 10th

of June. In eleven hours the artist made a painting of 2 x 6 meter. This performance had a pointedly public character: during the whole day there were visitors present to see the artist at work. On the press release card Pieter Holstein wrote: Years from now I still want to remember that day.

July

August The following artists made work for the zomermanifestatie called August: Vito Acconci made the installation ‘Cry Baby!’ in the Martinikerk.

Maryanne Amacher (AIR) showed her installation at the Willem Lodewijk passage 9 from the 21st of August until the 9th of September. She also had

a concert/ performance called Empty Way; Facing Energy Way, which she performed on the 26th at the Stadsschouwburg (a local theatre) in

Groningen. Jon Borofsky (AIR) worked on his installation I dreamed I found a red ruby, which he drew and painted on the walls of the Corps de Garde studio from the 12th of August until the 30th of September. Michael

Brewster (AIR) made Concrete Two Tone, a sound sculpture in a tunnel near Marum, which was active from the 12th of August until the 9th of

September. Jack Goldstein made the installation Burning Window at the Willem Lodewijk Passage 44, which was on view from the 12th of August

until the 9th of September. Dan Graham installed his installation for a

shopping window in the store called Dechesne, located in the central shopping street of Groningen (Herestraat). The installation was on view from the 12th of August until the second of September. David Salle made a

the 12th of September. Wisse Scheper made a composition for the piano

and gave several concerts. Bart Thrall made a short film.

September The installation by Maryanne Amacher in the Willem Lodewijk passage 9, the installation by Jon Borofsky at Corps de Garde, the sound

sculpture by Michael Brewster located in a tunnel near Marum and Jack Goldstein’s installation Burning Window at the Willem Lodewijk passage were all still on view.

On the 15th of September a press notice from Corps de Garde alarmed

everybody on the mailing list that the future existence of the foundation was at stake due to the precarious financial situation.

October

November On the 17th of November a press notice by Corps de Garde informed that

the future existence of the foundation for the following year was secured thanks to the efforts of Thewis Wits.

February Maggie Bauer & Michel Sauer (AIR for two months): production and installation, slide presentation Film im Kopf.

March Elaine Hartnett gave a performance, workshop and a guest lecture titled:

Performance in New York. From the 13th until the 17th of March Drewis

de Wit showed his work Seams. From the 20th until 24th Han Jansen

showed his installation Paterswolde. From the 27th until the 31st of March

Corps de Garde showed Raul Marroquin’s video Superbman’s Last Adventure, a Video Serial of eleven episodes. James Lee Byars (AIR) worked on his idea for the presentation of the next Documenta and presented this in the Groninger Museum under the title: The 5 Continent Documenta 7.

April Michael McClard (AIR of two months) created and played the persona

Axel Radius.

May

June Vito Acconci installed the Peoplemobile on the Grote Markt (city square) and gave a lecture about his work. Jana Haimsohn performed her dances and Giuseppe Chiari gave a concert.

July

August The following activities were part of the Zomermanifestatie program called August: Michael Asher (AIR): production, presentation, guest lecture. Jack Goldstein: (AIR) the showing of The Jump in the Groninger museum and the production of the piece Two Boxers. Jack Goldstein also gave two lectures about his practice, one in the Groninger Museum and one at the Institute for Art History in Groningen. Love of Life Orchestra gave several concerts and Maggie Bauer & Michel Sauer (AIR) showed their slide presentation Film im Kopf. On the press card was written: Wo die Leute um 10 vor 12 nach dem Kino pinkeln gehen, da laufen die Dia’s. James Lee Byars presented The Flag of Perfect. Michael Brewster

presented Hit and Run, a floating flasher drawing. Michael Smith (AIR) performed his pieces Down in the Rec Room and Baby Ikki. Silvia Steiger (AIR) created the work Feathers fall around you. More information about the zomermanifestatie and the individual works can be found in the text below.

September Love of Life Orchestra gave several concerts. Peter Gordon had an AIR period. Corps de Garde mediated with several institutions to secure the installation of Michael Brewster’s Concrete Two Tone in Vienna. October Charlemagne Palestine played the Lohman organ of the church in

Farmsum. On the 27th of October he performed his composition Schlingen Blangen. John van ‘t Slot: (AIR of two months) worked on The Black Iceberg.

November from the 10th of November until the first of December the work The Black Iceberg was shown at gallery Magazijn. This exhibition was developed in collaboration with Corps de Garde.

December Gerrit Dekker: (AIR) is preparing a big project. More information about this project will be made available in 1980.

January Barbara Bloom, The Diamond Lane: Corps de Garde worked on the production of the poster for The Diamond Lane in collaboration with the artist in January and February. On the 1st of January Michael Smith &

the Social Climbers (Jean Shaw, Mark Bingham, A. Leroy) gave a concert (A&E) at the Kattebak in Groningen. On the 4th they gave another

concert (A&E) at Mazzo in Amsterdam and on the 6th they performed at

Apollohuis in Eindhoven.

February Barbara Bloom showed The Diamond Lane (A&E) in nine Groninger cinemas. John van ‘t Slot also worked on a poster production this month and Gerrit Dekker started his AIR-period of three months. On the 12th of

February Love of Life Orchestra (David van Tieghem, Randy Gun, Peter Gordon and John Greaves) gave a concert (A&E) at the Grand Theatre in Groningen.

March From the 7th until the 29th of March John van ‘t Slot had an exhibition in

the Public Studio of Corps de Garde. On the 19th the Glenn Branca Band

(Glenn Branca, Lee Raynaldo, David Rosenbloom, Pleas E. Sublette, Jeffrey Glenn, Stephen Wischerth) gave a concert (A&E) at the Grand Theatre in Groningen.

April Andrzej Duda worked on the production of a poster. On the 10th of April

Morgan Thomas gave a lecture at the Public Studio. From the 25th until

the 28th of April Han Jansen presented his Stroombeelden Groninger Wad

project via a slide show at Gallery Jack Visser in Amsterdam. On the 26th

Han Jansen told about his project in a production of the NOS Dutch television. On the 25th until the 5th of May a slide presentation of the

project (A&E) was shown at the Kroller Moller in Otterlo and from the 25th until the 24th of May the project was shown as a photo presentation

in Galerie d’Affice in Groningen and at intercolor&Hartman in Eindhoven.

May From the 8th until the 31st of May Andrzej Duda showed an installation at

the Public Studio Corps de Garde. Leeny Sack had an AIR period of two months. Paul McMahon&Nancy Ratlof (who also had an AIR period of two months) organised two shows: on the 22nd of May Paul McMahon

performed songs (A&E) at the Apollohuis in Eindhoven and on the 31st he

performed songs (A&E) at the Open Podium of the Grand Theatre in Groningen.

June Paul McMahon performed his songs (A&E) on TROS Radio. On the third of June Paul McMahon performed his songs (A&E) at the Kattebak in Groningen, on the 13th at Willem I in Arnhem and on the 26th at the

Grand Theatre in Groningen. From the 12th of June until the 7th of July

Bert Mebius showed an installation at Public Studio Corps de Garde. Leeny Sack performed her monologue The Survivor & The Translator at the World Gathering of Holocaust Survivors in Jerusalem and Robin Winters had an AIR period of three months.

July

August

September Bert Mebius worked on the production of a set of post cards. Han Jansen worked on the production of the project Ommelander Zeedijk.

October On the 9th of October Z’EV had a solo performance (A&E) at the Grand

Theatre in Groningen and also Remko Scha & The Machines gave a concert there on the same day. Rob Nypels showed an installation at the Public Studio on the 15th, 16th and 17th of October. On the 22nd until the

24th Remko Scha & The Machines showed an installation at the Public

Studio of Corps de Garde. On the 27th the ROVA Saxophone Quartet (Jon

(A&E) at the Grand Theatre in Groningen. On the 28th of October Corps

de Garde presented Arts&Entertainment, with Van Lagestein, Felix Hess and Remko Scha. On the 29th of October until the 7th of November Felix

Hess showed his installation of Australian frog tapes at the Public Studio. Robin Winters had an AIR period of two months. During this month Corps de Garde also gave a guest lecture on Organised Sound at the Visual Arts Academy in Arnhem.

November On the 5th of November Rebecca Horn’s La Ferdinanda (film) (A&E) was

shown in City 1 in Groningen. On the 11th Peter Gordon gave a solo

concert (A&E) at the Grand Theatre in Groningen. From the 12th until the

14th Peter Gordon showed an installation of tapes at the Public Studio. On

the 19th and 20th Michel Waisvisz showed de Puntkop; an installation at

the Public Studio. From the 25th of November until the 5th of December

Robin Winters showed Objects; an installation at the Public Studio. Gerrit Dekker started his AIR this month in Sri Lanka, where he worked on the Harwich Bawley.

December Until the 5th of December Robin Winters showed Objects in the Public

Studio. From the 10th until the 19th of December Han Jansen also showed

an installation at the Public Studio. Gerrit Dekker continued his AIR working on the Harwich Bawley in Sri Lanka.

January Robin Winters: Burning Desire was published in the Museumjournaal. Dan Graham gave a lecture on the 28th of January in the Public Studio

called Rock and Roll & Architecture.

February Floor van Keulen gave a performance at the Public Studio from the 11th

until the 13th of February. Rob Nypels showed a photo installation at the

Public Studio from the 25th of February until the 6th of March.

March Gerrit Dekker and Leendert van Lagestein hosted a talk show called

Message from Kolonnawa in the Public Studio on the 4th of March. On the

6th of March they hosted the talk show again at a cultural centre in

Tilburg, where it was recorded. From the 11th until the 20th of March this

video was shown in the Public Studio. On the 25th of March the film The World of Gilbert&George was shown in the Filmhuis cinema in

Groningen.

April Gerrit Dekker showed the installation Photo of Tokyo at the Public Studio. Scott Johnson had a solo concert in the Public Studio on the 15th

of April. Eric Bogosian had an AIR period in the Work Studio from the 22nd of April until the 24th of May. Robin Winters had an exhibition of

paintings and drawings in the Living Room in Amsterdam (A&E) from the 25th of April until the 18th of May. Joanne Bonney had an AIR in the

Work Studio from the 28th of April until the 15th of May. Ned Rothenberg

had a solo concert on the saxophone in the Public Studio on the 29th of

April.

May Eric Bogosian had a try out performance (A&E) in the Grand Theatre in Groningen on the first of May. Barbara Pyle presented Permutations, an installation (Xerox, video and film) in the Public Studio from the 6th until

the 15th of May. Djibrill Ndoy presented Balafon, a solo concert in the

Public Studio on the 7th of May. Jan de Bruin and Bert Mebius had an

exhibition at the Public Studio from the 20th until the 29th of May. Eric

Bogosian held his performance Voices of America in the Public Studio on the 21st of May. On the 22nd he performed the piece at the pop platform

Simplon in Groningen. Remko Scha & The Machines had a concert (A&E) at the Kroller Moller Museum on the 22nd of May. Eric Bogosian did a

performance (A&E) at Stahmheim in Groningen on the 23rd of May.

June The first of June Fred Frith gave a concert (A&E) at the Grand Theatre in Groningen. From the third until the 6th of June Felix Hess showed his

installation Paper Structures at the Public Studio. From the 12th until the

27th Felix Hess showed his installation of Australian frog sounds Frogs 1

(A&E) at the Rietveld-pavilion at the Kroller Muller Museum in Otterlo. John Blake had an AIR in the Work Studio from the first of June until the 6th of July. John Blake also showed two installations called In the Seeing Seenand in seen seeing: two different spaces at the Public Studio from the 10th of June until the 13th of July. Part one started at the 10th of

June at 2 pm and part two started on the 24th of June at 4pm.

July Leeny Sack had an AIR at the Public Studio from the 7th of July until the

30th of August. In the months July and August she gives four workshops

called Summer Search in the Public Studio. On the 31st Han Jansen

showed a slide presentation of his project ‘Stroombeelden: Groninger Wad’ at the Kunsthalle Wilhelmshafen.

August Maria Nordman showed the installation The ship Tjoba (A&E) at the verbindingskanaal Groningen from the 4th until the 25th of August. From

the 27th of August until the 5th of September she showed it at the dockside

September On the second of September Felix Hess showed his installation Frogs 1

(A&E) at

042 in Nijmegen. Remko Scha produced an audiocassette (TBG) from his

Guitar Mural 1 featuring the Machines. October

November The Rhys Chatman Band gave a concert (A&E) at De Effenaar in

Eindhoven on the 7th of November. The ROVA Saxophone Quartet gave a

concert (A&E) at the Theatre at the harbour in Den Haag on the 7th of

November. On the 10th ROVA gave a concert at the Bimhuis in

Amsterdam. On the 11th Peter Gordon gave a solo concert, Eric Bogosian

did a performance and Rhys Chatman Band performed (A&E) at Paradiso, Amsterdam. On the 12th of November Lawrence Weiner’s film Plowman’s Lunch (A&E) was shown in the Grand Theatre in Groningen together with a solo concert by Peter Gordon and ROVA. On the 13th Eric

Bogosian gave a performance (A&E) at the Grand Theatre in Groningen. The Rhys Chatman Band also performed that same evening. On the 14th

Eric Bogosian performed at the one world poetry festival (A&E) hosted at De Brakke Grond in Amsterdam. On the 18th Eric Bogosian gave a

performance (A&E) at ‘T Hoogt in Utrecht. On the 19th Will Offermans

gave a solo concert at the Public Studio.

December On the 7th Dick Raaymakers gave a concert The Microman SHHH! Night Owl at the Grand Theatre in Groningen.

February Ned Rothenberg and Remko Scha & The Machines both had a concert on the 17th of February (A&E) at the Grand Theatre in Groningen. Also on

the 17th Europa (consisting of Peter Mertens, Jan Nederveen and Rob

Nypels) organised Buffet at the Public Studio. On the 18th Europa

organised Dinner at the Groninger Museum and at the Public Studio. March From the first of March until the 4th of April Z’EV had an AIR-period in

the Work Studio. On the third and fourth of March Remko Scha & The Machines and Z’EV had a concert (A&E) at Paradiso, Amsterdam. Sjouke Schaafsma showed an installation called Make a Landscape at the Public Studio from the 8th until the 26th of March. On the 9th and 10th of March

Z’EV gave a concert at the Grand Theatre. On the 16th Andrzej Duda gave

a performance called des da at the Grand Theatre. On the 19th Z’EV gave

a concert at the Bimhuis in Amsterdam. On the 23rd Klaas Koetje showed

an audio installation called Hertziade at the Grand Theatre. On the 24th

Phill Niblock & Jon English played Music for Trombone, Tape and Film

(A&E) at the Grand Theatre. On the 24th Z’EV gave a concert Elemental Music (A&E) at ‘T Hoogt in Utrecht. On the 25th and 26th he performed Movement (A&E) at the Shaffy Theatre in Amsterdam and on the 27th he

gave a concert at Bauplatz, Venlo.

April Until the 4th of April Z’EV had an AIR-period in the Work Studio. At the

fourth of April Z’EV was life recorded (TBG) at the Shaffy Theatre, Amsterdam. On the 5th he gave a concert at the Perfotijd Festival at De

Lantaren in Rotterdam. On the 5th until the 10th of April Charlemagne

Palestine’s installation Shlingen Blangen (A&E) was shown at Perfotijd Festival, De Lantaren in Rotterdam. On the 7th of April Michel Waisvisz

gave a concert called The Michel Waisvisx Synthesizer Show (A&E) at the Grand Theatre. Dorit Cypis had an AIR period at the Work Studio from the 15th of April until the 26th of June. On the 21st Wil Offermans and

Schott Johnson both had a solo concert (A&E) at the Grand Theatre. On the 23rd Scott Johnson also had a solo concert (A&E) at the Apollohuis in

Eindhoven and on the 24th in the Kroller Moller Museum in Otterlo.

May On the first of May Scott Johnson gave a solo concert (A&E) at the

Beginnerstudio in Keulen. On the 5th Livia Polanyi performed Nederlands Worden (Dutch words / Becoming Dutch) and Floor van Keulen performed

Zero, Comma, Zero (A&E) at the Grand Theatre. On the 14th both Scott

Johnson, Wil Offermans and Chinese Puzzle (David Rosenbloom, David Hofstra and Bobby Previte) performed a solo concert (A&E) at ‘T Hoogt in Utrecht. On the 19th Chinese Puzzle gave a concert (A&E) at the Grand

Theatre. On the 19th, 20th and 21st Dorit Cypis showed the installation

(A&E) Still Cinema and Talking Pictures at the Apollohuis in Eindhoven. On the 20th, 21st and 22nd Chinese Puzzle gave a concert (A&E) at De

Kattebak, Groningen. On the 23rd, 24th and 25th Remko Scha & The

Machines gave a concert (A&E) at the Apollohuis in Eindhoven. On the 26th Phill Niblock & Jon English performed Music for Trombone, Tape and Film (A&E) at Paradiso, Amsterdam. On the 28th Chinese Puzzle

gave a concert (A&E) at Paradiso, Amsterdam and Rhys Chatman did a piece for the guitar with cross-over imagery by Michael Zwack (A&E) at the Stedelijk Museum, Amsterdam. On the 29th of May until the 11th of

June Tom Puckey had an AIR period at the Work Studio of Corps de Garde.

June David Rosenbloom had an AIR period from the third of June until the 31st

and audience both at the Grand Theatre. On the 5th Gerrit Dekker

showed a slide presentation at restaurant Europa in Amsterdam. From the 11th until the 26th Dorit Cypis showed the installation Still Cinema and Talking Pictures (A&E) at ‘T Hoogt in Utrecht. From the 11th until

the 19th of June Tom Puckey showed an installation in the Public Studio

called Five Houses Five Cities - The Fifth Phase The House in Groningen Salt and Copper. Documentation of this installation was later shown at De Zaak in Groningen. On the 12th Corps de Garde was on the radio with

its Arts&Entertainment program at the Dutch radio station the VPRO. Leendert van Lagestein hosted the radio show and the artists David Rosenbloom, Dorit Cypis, Gerrit Dekker and Paul McMahon participated in the show. On the 15th Remko Scha & The Machines gave a concert and

Z’EV did a performance for the VPRO television called Aanvallen van uitersten (Which could be translated as attack/ extraordinary instances of extremes) at Carré, Amsterdam. On the 17th, the second show of

Arts&Entertainment on the radio for the VPRO took place. Van Lagestein and Z’EV hosted this show. On the 18th Gerrit Dekker hosted a slide

presentation evening at the Work Studio. On the 19th the third episode of

Arts&Entertainment on the radio took place for VPRO with Van Lagestein, David Rosenbloom and Scott Johnson. On the 24th the fourth

show of Arts&Entertainment on the radio for the VPRO took place with Van Lagestein, Wil Offermans, Dorit Cypis and the ROVA Saxophone Quartet. On the 26th, the 5th show of Arts&Entertainment on the radio for

the VPRO station took place, this time it was hosted by Van Lagestein and Remko Scha.

July David Rosenbloom had an AIR period until the 31st of July. On the 5th and

6th of July David Rosenbloom made recordings (TBG) at a Baptist church

in Groningen. August

October Z’EV had an AIR period at the Work Studio from October until mid-November. On the 22nd of October Remko Scha & The Machines (A&E in

collaboration with Gaudeamus) gave a concert at the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam.

November On the second of November Van Lagestein presented

‘Arts&Entertainment’ together with Z’EV at the art academy in Arnhem (lecture). On the 5th of November Z’EV gave a performance at the Work

Studio. From the 16th of November until the beginning of 1984 Robin

Winters had an AIR period at the Work Studio.

December On the first and second of December there was the Arts&Entertainment show at ‘T Hoogt in Utrecht.

January From the 10th until the 12th of January Barbara Pyle presented The History of the Continents at the Work Studio featuring Jan de Jong on guitar. Corps de Garde made a production of this performance on videotape. On the 21st and 22nd of January Remko Scha & The Machines

gave concerts and showed installations at the Haags Gemeente Museum. On the 24th Michael Smith showed his videotapes Down in the Rec Room

and It Starts at Home in the Videobar of Simplon, Groningen. On the 26th

until the 28th Michael Smith performed his work The Dirty Show at the

Stadsschouwburg and at the Kruithuis in Groningen.

February On the second of February Michael Smith performed The Dirty Show and showed the videotape It Starts at Home at Odeon Amsterdam. On the 4th

and 5th Z’EV gave a concert in the Haags Gemeente Museum. From the

6th of February until the 18th of March Tony Morgan had an AIR period in

the Work Studio until the 18th of March. On the 11th and 12th Z’EV had a

concert at the Kroller Moller Museum. On the 19th Remko Scha & The

Machines had a concert at The Kitchen in New York.

March Corps de Garde produced tapes of Tim Wright, Z’EV and Rudolph Grey. On the 17th Tony Morgan had a presentation at the Work Studio.

April On the 5th until the 30th of April Wil Offermans had an AIR period at the

Work Studio. On the 8th Livia Polanyi gave a lecture / performance called Experimental Anthropology at the Gemeente Museum in Arnhem. May From the 22nd of May until the first of August Tim Wright & Maryanne

Livchak had an AIR period at the Work Studio. On the 30th of May Jan de

Jong and the Skeleton Crew both had a concert at the Grand Theatre. June Corps de Garde and Robin Winters produced the poster ROVA. On the 3rd

of June ROVA gave a concert at De Vleeshal in Middelburg. On the 6th

and 8th they gave a concert at the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam.
