Listens to and discusses the key features of a play script.
A dialogue is written to be performed as a play on a stage.
Each character’s spoken words are written next to their name, after the colon.
Actions and voice modulations are written in brackets ().
You do not use quotation marks!

In a forest, late afternoon.
Theme
Children running away from a camp site.
Plot
6 children run away from the camp site, to explore what is in the forest.
They find an old house and 2 plays a game to frighten everyone else. In this state they argue with each other. They all go in different directions. In the end they all get together and help each other get back.
Characters
Mishka – she is the leader and can be bossy, unafraid.
Ayanda – he lies about his father being rich, insecure.
Lerato – she is serious, she is honest and sensible.
Lena – a follower, quiet, goes along with the group.
Rebekah – imaginative, wants excitement
Norman – fearful, nerd, not popular, responsible.
Reads a monologue pg 46 – 47 Answers:
A speech that an actor makes on his or her own. It shows their thoughts.
a) Ofilwe feels she did nothing wrong, she greeted her
mother’s guests and can’t understand why her mother has a problem with it.
b) She feels that Ofilwe was disrespectful towards her guests, by saying “Hi” and not greeting them properly in Sepedi.
