Curriculum Vitae
Mark Guido (Guy) Roukens was born on the 10th of October 1979 in Bleiswijk, the Netherlands. After graduating from the Stedelijk Gymnasium Schiedam in 1997 he studied Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of Utrecht. From August 2001 until March 2002 he did a research internship at the lab of Dr. Miklos Toth at the Medical School of Cornell University in New York City in the United States. The internship stimulated his interest in molecular biology. Therefore, after obtaining a Master degree, in pharmaceutical sciences in 2003 and a pharmacist degree in 2004, he decided to change field; from September 2004 he started his PhD training in molecular and cell biology under supervision of Dr. David Baker. After a brief period as a postdoc in the same lab he will start working as a postdoc in the lab of Prof. Dr. Stefan Schulte-Merker at the Hubrecht Institute in Utrecht in April 2010.
