1. The uptake of the combined test in the Netherlands can only be judged if counseling is performed adequately and informed decision making is guaranteed (Chapter 2).

2. Well-trained professionals do not benefit, in terms of reproducibility of nuchal translucency measurement, from the use of the semi-automated measurement methods in comparison to manual measurement (Chapter 3).

3. Pregnancy loss rates after invasive procedures seem to be lower than previously reported, provided they are performed by experienced operators (Chapter 4).

4. Increased nuchal translucency is much more than just a marker for Down syndrome; it is also a marker for other chromosomal, genetic and structural abnormalities. Therefore, the nuchal translucency measurement should remain an integral part of prenatal screening in the current NIPT-era (Chapter 5).

5. When specific prenatal ultrasound findings for Noonan syndrome are present, besides an increased nuchal translucency, targeted DNA-analysis is indicated (Chapter 6).

6. The MNM-angle is an easy measurable and reproducible marker to support detection of micrognathia and facial clefts in the first trimester of pregnancy (Chapter 7).

7. Promoveren is net zoals verhuizen naar Groningen, je moet het steeds weer uitleggen.

8. We are all here on earth to help others; what on earth the others are here for I don't know (W. H. Auden).

9. There is only one thing that makes a dream impossible to achieve: the fear of failure (Paul Coehlo, The Alchemist). 10. Eventually all pieces fall into place. Until then, laugh at the confusion, live for the moment, and know that everything happens for a reason (SATC). 11. Reis ver, drink wijn, denk na, lach hard, duik diep, kom terug (Spinvis).

Objective The aim of this study was to evaluate which of the following fac- tors affect the uptake of the combined test (CT) in the Netherlands: women’s socio-demographic

The goal of this study was to examine the intra-operator and inter-operator differ- ences of the manual and semiautomated nuchal translucency (NT) measurements and to evaluate
