Introduction
Founded in 1992, the European Association of Development Agencies (EURADA) gathers organisations and experts working on economic development through a large network of over 80 members throughout 23 countries in the EU and beyond. We connect our members with other regional development agencies, business partners and European authorities.
Unit on Capitalisation of Interreg Europe’s Projects
In July 2018 EURADA established the Unit on Capitalisation of Interreg Europe’s Projects with the focus on three Interreg Europe’s projects EURADA is involved in: Social Seeds, ESSPO and Beyond EDP.
The Unit is formed by EURADA’s director Esteban Pelayo and EURADA’s policy officer Tommaso Galli. The task of the Unit is to analyse the best practices collected in the frame of Social Seeds, ESSPO and Beyond EDP so as to transfer these to European public authorities - especially to Regional Development Agencies (RDAs) and Innovation Agencies (IAs). The project officers of the aforementioned Interreg Europe projects collected over 50 best-practices on the key policy areas: social innovation; stimuli on the
entrepreneurial discovery process; and comprehensive measures to support portfolios for SMEs.
EURADA’s Unit on Capitalisation of Interreg Europe’s Projects thoroughly reviewed these best-practices and assessed them against: Innovation; Transferability; Sustainability; Impact on regional level; Quadruple helix and multi-stakeholder approaches. The comparative analysis and assessment process led to the selection of two best-practices EURADA considers highly useful for European public authorities.

The Unit then developed the EURADA’s Canvas on Best-Practices Transfer in order to make it easier for interested institutions to gain a wide comprehension on the key elements of the two selected best
practices. To create this innovative canvas, we build on the existing lean/business canvas and we specifically modified their framework according to RDAs and IAs vision, structure and objectives.
EURADA will start to extensively inform its members and other interested European public authorities about the two best-practices selected among our three Interreg Europe’s Projects. EURADA’s Unit on Capitalisation of Interreg Europe’s Projects will serve as contact point between the best practices’ owners and EURADA members willing to deepen on and acquire the necessary expertise on the selected best-practices to adapt them to their regional contexts. To do so the Unit employs a number of tools such as a comprehensive information packages on best practices, on-line meetings and webinars between the best practices’ owners and interested parties along with study visits tailored to RDAs and IAs.
