De auteur van dit proefschrift werd geboren op 9 oktober 1975, te Monza, Italië. In 1994 behaalde ze het VWO-diploma aan het Liceo Scientifico Enriquez (Cum Laude), waarna ze startte met de studie geneeskunde aan de Universita’ Degli Studi di Milano, Italië. Tijdens haar studie deed zij onderzoek naar autonome dysfunctie bij patiënten met hartfalen. In juli 2000 heeft zij het artsenexamen afgelegd (Cum Laude). In het kader hiervan verdedigde zij de Doctoraalthesis getiteld: “Cardiovascular variability and baroreflex control in heart failure patients”.
Hierna begon ze met de opleiding Cardiologie aan de Universita’ Degli Studi di Milano-Bicocca. In september 2003 verhuisde zij naar Amsterdam voor een wetenschappelijke stage bij de Experimentele Cardiologie van het Academisch Medisch Centrum. Deze stage resulteerde in een promotieonderzoek naar het Brugada syndroom onder de supervisie van Dr. H.L. Tan en Prof. A.A.M. Wilde. Haar opleiding tot cardioloog werd vanaf 1 april 2004 voortgezet in het AMC en werd voltooid in december 2005. Sinds 1 januari 2006 is ze werkzaam als algemeen cardioloog in het Academisch Medisch Centrum. Sinds oktober 2008 werkt zij ook in Praktijk Geervliet in Amsterdam.
