Abstract The modern aircraft tires are demanding on high stress-strain properties, lower heat generation for increasing durability, better traction for ensuring safety and more landing cycles per tire due to better wear resistance. The rubber composition and processing play an essential role in governing the performance of rubber compounds during service. The mechanical and dynamical properties of rubber compounds highly depend on the material selection and mixing condition. In this study, the influence of different types of butadiene rubber (BR), fillers and mixing parameters on the properties of compounds and vulcanizates of filler-reinforced NR/BR blend are investigated. The properties of interest are lowering tan delta at 100°C while maintaining specific Modulus 300, high tensile strength and resistance to wear for developing rubber compounds used for the manufacture of aircraft tire tread. The design of experiment (DOE) method was used to identify and further optimize the key factor settings and interactions on balancing the properties of NR/BR blend compounds for highperformance of aircraft tire tread application..
