Curriculum vitae
Rinske Marlien Drost was born on August 16th, 1983 in Utrecht (the Netherlands). In 1995 she attended the Cals College Nieuwegein, from which she graduated in 2001. In the same year she started her study Biology at Utrecht University. After writing a bachelor thesis on the cellular defense against HIV under supervision of Dr. Adri Thomas, she obtained her Bachelor of Science degree in 2004. Afterwards she started the master program Animal Biology at Utrecht University. During this master program, she performed a 9-month internship in the Biochemical Physiology group of Prof. Dick van der Horst at Utrecht University, under direct supervision of Masja van Oort. During this intership, she studied expression and translocation of the CD36 protein. Subsequently, she performed a 6-month internship at the division of Molecular Biology of the Netherlands Cancer Institute in the group of Dr. Jos Jonkers, under direct supervision of Bastiaan Evers. Here she investigated whether BRCA2-deficient mouse mammary epithelial cells could survive
in vitro cell culture. She obtained her Master of Science degree in 2006. In November 2006,
Rinske started as a PhD student in the group of Dr. Jos Jonkers, where she conducted the research described in this thesis.
