Online peer feedback in

interprofessional workplace learning

The aim of this project is to improve interprofessional workplace learning programmes for undergraduate health students from diff erent professionals by means of peer feedback. We will integrate online peer feedback in these face-to-face-programs.

Interprofessional education working group and collaboration in Health care and Well-being

Lecturers from all study programmes within Health care and Well-being are working together to design and implement an integral interprofessional educational objective.

Relevant stakeholders are involved in this process and sustainable collaborative networks are created.

In the (primary) health care sector, professionals and students from diff erent professions and with

diff erent educational levels (vocational, bachelor and master level) need to work together in an

eff ective way to provide integrated care. Interprofessional learning at the workplace helps

students to develop their collaborative competencies. By working together in a practice setting,

they learn about, from and with each other in a real life context. Students, as competent colla-

borators, are able to provide and receive peer feedback in an adequate way. The incoorporation of

peer feedback into interprofessional learning programmes is a means to learn about, from and

with each other, but will also enable undergraduate students with diff erent educational levels to

develop their collaborative skills.

Educational design

We will develop the INTER-ACTIE approach by following a user-centered design. The online peer feedback will be fi rst integrated into existing interprofessional educational

programmes in workplace learning, initiated in the southern part of the Netherlands.

The unique selling point of our approach is that the peer feedback approach will be adjusted for students accross diff erent educational levels.

Giving and receiving peer feedback is not only a mean for interprofessional learning, but also a goal: being able to evaluate teamwork is an important interprofessional competence of health care professionals This interprofessional peer feedback learning approach will be called

‘INTER-ACTIE’. It will be integrated into an existing online peer feedback tool, which can be used as a stand-alone application.

- Work packet 1: Enabling conditions for online peer feedback

Assessment and selection of existing digital peer feedback tools in all participating educational institutes. Starting point is the usability in all existing online learning environments, with the option as a stand- alone application for wider application.

- Work packet 2: Development and design of learning material of INTER-ACTIE

Assessment, adaptation and/or development of learning material of online peer feedback and interaction. The user requirements and content will be designed suitable for all educational institutions and adapted based on

the selected digital peer feedback tool (WP 1).

- Work packet 3: Evaluation and refl ection on learning material

Application and evaluation of the INTER- ACTIE approach

- Work packet 4: Sustainable implementation Sustainable implementation to enable

educational institutions and health care organization to integrate INTER-ACTIE in their workplace learning.

Results and deliverables

The current face-to-face approach in interprofessional workplace learning programmes will be enriched by online peer feedback that is adjusted to diff erences between health students from diff erent educational levels.

INTER-ACTIE will be provided as a stand-alone application. The results become available for all health students in the Limburg region. This includes around 350 medical students, 300 health students from the university of applied sciences and at least 50 students from vocational training in health care, who are involved in interprofessional learning each year.

Availability of developed materials

All developed materials and the peer feedback formats will become available by means of a Creative Commons licence. The materials will be shared online by SURFSharekit and/or
