Daphne van Kleef was born on February 17th 1988 in Gouda, The Netherlands, where she completed her secondary education in 2006. After obtaining her Bachelor degree in Public Administration from Erasmus University in 2009, she started with the research master Organizational Science and Public Administration at the University of Utrecht in cooperation with Erasmus University and Tilburg University. During this time, she has worked as a student assistant for different projects with topics such as team learning, gender diversity, legitimacy and trust, and quality of public organizations.

Daphne started as a PhD at the institute of Public Administration at Leiden University in 2011 after obtaining her master degree from Utrecht University. In addition to completing the post-graduate program of the Netherlands Institute of Governance (NIG), she took didactical courses of the ICLON (Leiden University Graduate School of Teaching). she attended international conferences such as the European Group of Public Administration (EGPA), International Research Society for Public Management (IRSPM), and European Academy of Management (EURAM); and national conferences such as NIG and HRM network.

She was also involved in teaching both at the bachelor and master’s level.

At the bachelor level she taught working groups (Quantitative Methods and Techniques, Public Policy Implementation). At the master’s level she was involved in the development and teaching of different courses (Human Resource Management, Report and Presentation (MA and ResMa)), and supervised master theses. She obtained her BKO (Basic University Teaching Qualification) in 2015.

Daphne’s research addresses a wide variety of topics such as organizational

socialization, diversity and diversity management, co-production, organizational

learning from crises. She uses and combines different quantitative and

qualitative methods. Daphne’s work has been published in Equality, Diversity,

and Inclusion: An International Journal, International Journal of Public

Administration, Public Management Review, The American Review of Public

Administration. She currently works as a researcher and lecturer at the Institute

of Public Administration at Leiden University
