Babylonian Literary Texts in the Sch™yen Collection (CUSAS 10), No. 14

corrigendum – In the Akkadian version of No. 14 (The Scholars of Uruk) line 44, ú-·i- im-ma a-an-ni-a-am-ma uz-nam a-na a-li-ia i·-ru-uk, the first word is to be parsed from

·ummum “to think” rather than from the rare II/1 stem of ·i’®mum. Its Sumerian counterpart mu.un.dím arises from the lexical equation dím.ma “thought” = ·ummu

“think”, which is extant in Erim¿u· IV 152 (dím.ma = ·um-mu, ·u-um-mu) and Nabn¬tu IV 352 (dím = ·u-um-mu, ·um-ma). The line should be translated “Ea deliberated and bestowed this very wisdom on my city”.
