In commemoration of the Chernobyl accident 20 years ago, the Belgian Society for Radiation Protection (BVABR) and the French society for Radiation Protection (SFRP) organised jointly a one day colloquium in Brussels, on 24th March 2006.

Speakers with various backgrounds have been invited and presented a synthesis a technical,

organisational and humanitarian aspects. The focus went on lessons that are learned from the accident and the actions still needed for recovery.

Looking back to what happened over these 20 years, but also looking forward, as Chernobyl should not be forgotten.
