Curriculum Vitae
Patrick Overeem was born on November 6, 1978, in Ede, The Netherlands, and raised in Renswoude. In 1997 he completed his secondary education (VWO, gymnasium) at the Van Lodensteincollege in Amersfoort and went to study at Leiden University, where he graduated in Political Science (2002, cum laude) and Public Administration (2003). As a student, he worked as a research assistant, participated in an Honours Class on European governance, and did an internship at the Scientific Council for Government Policy (WRR) in The Hague. Since 2003 he was a PhD fellow and junior lecturer at the Department (now Institute) of Public Administration in Leiden. Besides writing this dissertation, he has taught courses, participated in a research project of the Dutch Ministry of the Interior and Kingdom Relations (BZK), and published articles in Administrative Theory
& Praxis and Public Administration Review. Currently, he holds a position of assistant professor at the aforementioned institute, where he specializes in political and administrative theory, administrative ethics, and the constitutional legitimacy of administrative power. Patrick is married and a father of two children.
