Carol for Advent

Hark what a sound, and too divine for hearing, Stirs on the earth and trembles in the air;

Is it the thunder of the Lord's appearing?

Is it the music of His people's prayer?

Hark, what a sound! Hark, what a sound!

Surely He comes and with celestial voices singing on high-sweet heav’nly praises swell!

Surely He cometh, and all the earth rejoices,

“Peace and good will, God comes to earth to dwell.”

Hark, what a sound! Hark, what a sound!

Through all our lives, through sorrow and through sinning He shall suffice us, for He has sufficed:

Christ is the end, for Christ is the beginning, Christ the beginning, for the end is Christ.

Hark, what a sound! Hark, what a sound!
