1. Het synbioticum bestaande uit Bifidobacterium breve M-16V en een oligosaccharidemengsel heeft geen effect op de ernst van atopische dermatitis bij zuigelingen. (dit proefschrift)
2. Een flesvoeding met Bifidobacterium breve M-16V en een oligosaccharidemengsel verandert de darmflora naar een samenstelling met meer bifidobacteriën en minder potentieel pathogene bacteriën, zoals bij borstgevoede kinderen. (dit proefschrift)
3. Zuigelingen met IgE-geassocieerde atopische dermatitis hebben een meer uitgesproken T helper 2 immunologisch profiel dan zuigelingen met non-IgE-geassocieerde atopische dermatitis en dus potentieel meer kans om andere allergische ziekten te ontwikkelen. (dit proefschrift)
4. Het synbioticum bestaande uit Bifidobacterium breve M-16V en een oligosaccharidemengsel voorkomt astma symptomen bij jonge kinderen met atopische dermatitis. (dit proefschrift)
5. De huidige nationale en internationale richtlijnen wat betreft borstvoeding, flesvoeding en introductie van bijvoeding in het kader van allergiepreventie zijn onvoldoende met wetenschappelijk bewijs onderbouwd. (dit proefschrift)
