Hij is af! En ik maar denken dat ik het wel alleen kon..

Niet alleen die twee meesterbreinen achter dit promotieboekje, Jeroen en Johan, waren onmisbaar tijdens mijn promotieonderzoek. Naast de inhoudelijke hulp van o.a. Dick, Randy en Leo Litvak was de morele support in J2-55, J2-80 en op H5 onvergetelijk. De wacht werd nogal eens afgewisseld en steeds wanneer ik dacht dat de support dan ook minder zou worden werd ik weer verrast door nieuwe superleuke collega’s die eigenlijk ook vrienden zijn geworden. Zonder die karaoke-, Lebkov-, vrimibo-, zeil-, step-, BBQ-, Sinterklaas-, boulder- en ga zo maar door momenten was dit proefschrift ongetwijfeld dikker en indrukwekkender geweest. En ik een stuk minder gelukkig. Eerlijk gezegd, denk ik dat ik de inhoud van dit proefschrift vooral te danken heb aan Advanced Bionics, de mede-auteurs van de artikelen, de CI-gebruikers die hebben deelgenomen aan het onderzoek, en mezelf. Maar zonder mijn ouders, mijn lieve zus en (schoon)broer, de leukste vrienden (waaronder mijn twee paranimfen Marieke en Marleen) en natuurlijk Lukas denk ik niet dat dit me allemaal was gelukt.
