Sietske Riemersma was born on July 16th, 1970 in Hengelo (ov.). She graduated from the
Thomas a Kempis College in Zwolle in 1988. From September 1988 until February 1997 she studied medicine at the University of Maastricht. From September 1993 until January 1995 she was a graduate student at Exeter College and worked as a research student in the Neurosciences Group at the Institute of Molecular Science in Oxford, United Kingdom, under the supervision of Dr. Angela Vincent. In January 1995 the Master of Science degree at the University of Oxford was obtained by defending the thesis: Effects of antibodies on
acetylcholine receptor function in the human cell line TE671. The work presented in this
