About the Author

Kuswanto was born on June 25th, 1981 in Bantul, Yogyakarta, Indonesia. He obtained his bacheler degree from the National Institute of Local Governance (Sekolah Tinggi Pemerintahan Dalam Negeri) in 2004 and his Master of Urban and Regional Planning Degree from University of Colorado Denver, USA in 2011. He has been working at the Ministry of Home Affairs (MoHA), Republic of Indonesia since 2004 and experienced in many policy area. From 2004 - 2005, he was assigned as public relations staff at the Center of Public Relations at MoHA, then in 2005 to 2009 he was assigned as a personal assistant of the Secretary General of MoHA at the same time as staff at the Planning Bureau in Monitoring and Evaluation Division. In 2009 to 2011 he pursued Master Degree in University of Colorado Denver sponsored by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) under scheme of Human and Institution Capacity Development (HICD) Scholarship Program. Graduated from University of Colorado Denver in 2011, Kuswanto was assigned back to the Planning Bureau, then, he was promoted as Head of Sub Division of Foreign Enterprises Cooperation, Center of Overseas Administration and Cooperation, MoHA in 2012. In November 2013, he was awarded a scholarship under scheme Scholarship Program for Strengthening and Reforming Institution (SPIRIT) from National Development Planning Ministry or Bappenas to pursue Doctorate Degree. In November 2013, he was admitted as Ph.D candidate in International Political Economy, Department of International Relations and International Organizations, Faculty of Arts, University of Groningen. Beside his main activities as researcher and bureaucrat, he actively involved in many organizations. He was the President of Student Association at National Institute of Local Governance (Sekolah Tinggi Pemerintahan Dalam Negeri) from 2003 - 2004. During his study in the US, he was elected as President of Indonesian Student Association in America (PERMIAS) brach of Denver from 2010-2011. He was also elected as President of Indonesian Student Association in Groningen (PPIG) period of 2014 - 2015.
