Thank you

me with 2 feet on the 1st floor of the lab. Megan, thank you for making being a geek the best possible gorgeous way to go. Dr. Heger, dear Mich, you’re gonna miss some ginga love. Dear Lindy, thanks for your help with setting up the immunostaining at the lab. We had a great trip to Bordeaux, many nice talks out on the balcony, and with ‘our’ backpack we’ve shared many adventures. Jimme, you are the man… I truely hope you get the best and highest impact factor with your research as you deserve it with all the quality effort you put into it. Sebas and Ivonne, thank you for your input and help with the research on HCC. You have been a great help with the initiation of databases, data evaluation, and ongoing discussion on data management. Albert, ma Cherie … You care, with M&M’s when people are hurting, or a smile when the day is dark. Keep that up. You brought that smile back on my face. Ruurdje, Ivo has been the reason that I got to know you a little better. Your laugh is aanstekelijk, your insight in hepatology is undeniable. I hope we will have many more shared diners. Mans, you know you still have beers in our fridge; feel free to stop by. Ruud, I have never had a tenant before, but I am sure you are ideal. Shanna, let’s go shopping again somewhere fancy, I need some dresses. Thanks girl for many nice congresses together, super gezellig.

Krijn, Saffire, Heinz-Josef, Goos, Martien, Rob Chamaleaux, Wenink, Kasia, Esther, Andrea, Lisette, Thony, Geert, Marsman, Wilmar, Jaap thank you for inspiration, for talks out on the balcony, for gezelligheid, for adventures at congresses, for lessons in surfing, for lessons in conducting research and on how you did things before I even started thinking about scientific writing, presentation, and articles.

Marcel, thanks for being the ‘klankbord’ for dreams, crazy thoughts and creative outbursts. Thank you for seeing what I could only dream off. On top of the world ;)

Dad, this is one of these moments I’m missing you ...

Mam, thank you for giving me space to work (at crazy hours), thank you for the support from the start, thank you for believing, thank you for being my back-up. Boaz, thanks for your safety, care, strength and backyard campfires. Rufus, thanks for hours of enjoying mu-sic, drinks, clothes and friendship. Luc, Maarten & Esther, Kees & Marjolein, and Hans, thanks for many interesting medical conversations, your travels around the world and dedication to working where help is needed... we are family ;)

Lieve Ivo, heb ik je vandaag al gezegd: ... Let’s have more dreams together.
