Remmers van Toll‐like receptoren vormen potentieel nieuwe aangrijpingspunten voor de behandeling van sepsis (dit proefschrift) 2. ST2 is een belangrijke factor in de vatbaarheid voor secundaire longontsteking in muizen met sepsis, mogelijk door remming van type 1 cytokine productie door T‐ lymfocyten (dit proefschrift) 3. The enigma of sepsis – It is the response of the individual, rather than the invading microorganism, that constitutes disease (Lewis Thomas, 1972) 4. ST2 is naast een remmer van Toll‐like receptoren tevens een prognostische factor voor de mate van hartfalen; toeval bestaat niet 5.
