Curriculum Vitae

Felisa van Hasselt was born on November 15, 1982 in Chacao, Venezuela. In 2000, she completed the Gymnasium, Cum Laude, at the Maerlant Lyceum in The Hague and after spending 6 months in South-America, she started studying Biomedical Sciences at Utrecht University in 2001. As part of her Masters in Neuroscience and Cognition she did her first internship at the department of Neuroscience and Pharmacology (Utrecht University), under supervision of dr. Ronald Oosting and Johnny Chan, on the pharmacological and neurobiological aspects of sexual endophenotypes in male rats. She carried out her second internship at the Swammerdam Institute for Life Sciences (University of Amsterdam), under supervision of dr. Paul Lucassen and Charlotte Oomen, on the effects of spatial learning on adult neurogenesis in male rats. In November 2006, she started her PhD at the same department, under supervision of prof. dr. Marian Joëls and dr. Harm Krugers, and worked on the effects of maternal care in rats on phenotypic variation later in life, which is described in this thesis. During her PhD she worked for 6 months in the lab of prof. dr. Michael Meaney at the Douglas Institute, McGill University, in Montréal, Canada.
