Ultra-High Vacuum Deposition of Non-Volatile Solution

Processable Organic Materials and Polymers

by

Theodorus L. Krijger

1. Literature values of 5 or higher for the work function of gold should not be used to calculate device properties of devices that have not been prepared and kept entirely under vacuum. (This thesis)

2. Contrary to common knowledge, it is possible to perform electrospray on molecules with very low polarity. (Chapter 3 & 4)

3. Solution processable OPV materials make production of devices more sim-ple, but understanding how they work more difficult.

4. A well-staffed and well-equipped mechanical/electrical workshop is an ab-solute necessity for any PhD. student wishing to develop a new high-tech measurement setup.

5. The properties that we attribute to certain materials turn out not to be actual material properties, but properties of the material in a specific environment. The same can be said of characters of people.

6. Theoretical physicists might prefer to work on their problems in vacuum as it eliminates a lot of unwanted difficulties, but for experimental physicists, working with vacuum provides enough problems of its own.

7. Regardless of the good or bad nature of a artificial general intelligence, we should make sure that the human reaction around its release isn’t going to be catastrophic.

A n ultra-high vacuum chemical vapor deposition (UHVCVD) reactor is used to deposit thin solid layers on desired surfaces from atomic and molecular precur- sors in the vapour

In part I of this thesis, we will present contributions to UHVCVD reactor design, modeling of free molecular flow (FMF) dynamics and controller design for partial pressure control in

Let us now present a numerical simulation of a model similar to (2.5), as presented in (Dresscher et al. 2017), and the point-wise min-norm controller for flux control with

To asses the sensor and model per- formances, we will compare: (i) the fluxes model (as in (2.5)), (ii) the moles model having N as state (as in (2.3)), (iii) the measured

The evaporation sources have run-to-run and time (or evaporation) dependent variations, which the applied controller, presented in Section 4.3, is able to correct, given the

In the following numerical example, we will demonstrate a case where a simple linear state-feedback control law without feedforward control cannot solve the CCP for an

In this section, we will propose a solution to the SCP for cases when the initial and the desired pdfs are nonlinearly matching.. In this case, the results from the previous

We have provided and validated two components of the controlled reactor, namely the AAS-based partial pressure measurement and the flux model suitable for model-based control
