6 april 1971 Geboren te Leiden.

1983-1989 VWO op 'College Leeuwenhorst' te Noordwijkerhout.

1989-1994 Studie Technische Natuurkunde aan Technische Universiteit Delft. Afstudeeropdracht in de groep Quantumtransport van prof.dr.ir. J.E. Mooij.

Afstudeerverslag: De invloed van de elektromagnetische omgeving op

tunneljuncties in de normale en supergeleidende toestand.

1995-1999 Onderzoeker in opleiding aan de Universiteit van Amsterdam, facul-teit Wiskunde, Informatica, Natuur- en Sterrenkunde, in de groep Technische Natuurkunde van prof.dr. F.R. de Boer.

Het promotie-onderzoek is uitgevoerd op het Philips Natuurkundig Laboratorium onder begeleiding van prof.dr. R. Coehoorn.
