CurriCulum ViTae
Patricia Wilhelmina Theresia Beemster werd op 5 februari 1977 geboren in Hoogkarspel. Na het behalen van haar VWO-diploma aan het Martinus College in Grootebroek verhuisde zij in 1995 naar Amsterdam om daar Medische Biologie te gaan sturen aan de Vrije Universiteit (VU). Ze liep verschillende wetenschappelijke stages, waaronder een aan de Universiteit van Milaan in Italië. Na afronding van deze studie ging ze in 2000 Geneeskunde studeren, wederom aan de VU.
Na het behalen het artsexamen startte zij in november 2005 met haar promotieonderzoek bij de afdeling urologie van het Academisch Medisch Centrum (AMC) o.l.v. professor JJMCH de la Rosette, waarvan dit proefschrift het resultaat is. Nadat zij was aangenomen voor de opleiding urologie begon ze in januari 2009 met de vooropleiding heelkunde in het Alkmaar Medisch Centrum. Echter, in het tweede jaar stopte zij met de opleiding en beraamde zich over een carrièreswitch. Deze vond zij in het vak van seksuoloog, en sinds februari 2011 werkt zij als arts-onderzoeker bij de afdeling seksuologie in het AMC o.l.v. dr. Ellen Laan, en werkt zij sinds mei van hetzelfde jaar als seksuoloog bij de FeMpoli in Zwolle o.l.v. Jelto Drenth.
